Meet Alyssa

Born and raised in New Jersey, this is where Alyssa discovered her passion for animals and healing. From a very young age, Alyssa felt drawn to animals and building relationships with them.
 
She started horseback riding at age 8, taking lessons and attending summer camps at Briarwood Farm in Readington, NJ.  A few years later, she began to build a relationship with a head-shy horse named Spencer, helping him feel calm with gentle touch around his pole and ears.  She realized that gentle touch was relaxing and beneficial for them both.  

Alyssa attended Delaware Valley University in Doylestown, PA in 2008 with both a merit and equestrian scholarship.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a specialization in Zoology.  After working in the Veterinary Industry for several years, Alyssa came across a holistic healing method called Reiki while working at a large veterinary specialty hospital in Red Bank, NJ. 

In 2016, Alyssa became a certified White Light Reiki Practitioner, and earned her second degree certification in 2017.  She was attuned by Reiki Master Therapist, Craniosacral Therapist, and owner of "A Therapeutic Choice", Donna Keeney.   Soon after, Alyssa started treating cancer patients at an Integrative Veterinary Oncology Hospital and volunteering at a local therapeutic riding center.  People became so enthusiastic about the power of Reiki that she started traveling to their homes to give them Reiki treatments as well. 

In 2019, Alyssa moved from New Jersey to Northern Virginia to pursue her career in medical pathology.  She now works for The Virginia Department of Health and is board certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP).  In 2020, Alyssa became a certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist, learning directly from Mary Schreiber, President of Equissage, who founded the program in 1989.  In 2022, she was drawn to Leigh Shambo's Human Equine Alliance for Learning (HEAL). Shortly after she began facilitating equine assisted psychotherapy and learning.

Although she is constantly in pursuit of furthering her education, Alyssa still makes time to meditate and enjoy trail riding with her barn family.  Her goal is to bring health and wellness to those in need, and provide them the space to heal while preventing future illness. Contact Alyssa here.
