Having a Spiritual Practice

Everyone should have a spiritual practice. That doesn’t mean everyone needs to follow a certain religion. A spiritual practice should be an outlet that is calming, good for your soul, helps you regulate your emotions, and ultimately makes you a better person. It should help bring your focus on the present moment, allowing for release of negativity while turning your attention towards gratitude and new rewarding pathways. For some people that looks like prayer, meditation, yoga, being in nature, and practicing mindfulness. When we allow ourselves to be open to spirituality, we allow ourselves to grow to new heights and live with divine purpose.

Most people are stuck in survival mode on a daily basis; over thinking, over-stimulated, and constantly fighting the clock with deadlines. This stressful way of life takes a toll on us mentally and physically, and gives us little room to rest and process. Over time this builds up and decreases our tolerance for minor inconveniences and stimuli. Incorporating a spiritual practice into our routines helps shift our focus from simply surviving to living in peace and harmony. The more we allow ourselves this time to recover and reflect, the better equipped we are for daily experiences.
